Started off with the Beauregarde (Blueberry, Moscato, Violet, Lillet).  Tastes like juice and it’s no surprise because of the Moscato.  I like juice but not $10 juice.

As a starter we decided to share a pizza.  The one we chose had piquillo and other peppers.  This was probably the best thing we ordered.  Liked the crispy crust and fresh cheese.

I ordered the chitarrini neri with sea urchin & hot pepper which is basically black squid ink pasta with sea urchin and hot pepper sauce.  The portions at Cotogna were tiny, like kids menu tiny.

Skirt steak with artichokes “alla romana”

Fig leaf wrapped sea bass with corn & romano beans

Tagliatelle with suckling pig ragú

I have been wanting to try Cotogna for awhile and I don’t believe it’s been hyped up for me so why were we all disappointed at the end?  Small portions and nothing really to rave about.  The pizza was good but not amazing where I’d come back just for it.  I still have to say the best pastas I’ve had were at Lupa and Bottega.

Apologies for the poor picture quality.  The lighting inside was very dim and had to take them on the iPhone.
